Relay for Life

Canadian Cancer Society Fund Raising
We have been involved in the North Shore Relay for Life for the past seven years. This is an opportunity to get together to celebrate cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost to cancer, and fight back in the hope of finding a cure for this terrible disease. The event starts with a Lap of Honour celebrating the lives of survivors and ends with a Lap of Silence to remember those we have lost. NLUC has received the Top Commu-nity Fundraiser award for some four years. Annie Smits (a cancer survivor) was the top fundraiser last year with a total of $7,000. Last year we had three teams & raised just over $14,000. Our youth members have also been key participants.

Two years ago the NLUC team wanted to do something extra and now hands out “Free Hot Dogs!” Our NLUC Auditorium is also used for pre and post event administration. The 2009 North Shore Relay for Life will be held at Mahon Park, North Vancouver on June 13, 2009 from 10am – 10pm. We are hoping to enter a second team so, should anyone be interested in learning more about this event, please contact the church office.
